Can now monitor payments, menu choices made by children
Paying your child's cafeteria bill has just gotten easier now that Candler County Schools have computerized the process.
Now, parents can use the internet to see what and when their children eat, what their current balances are and make notes for the cafeteria manager, if necessary.
The "LunchBox" program allows parents to view and print their student's cafeteria transaction history, check to see how much money the student has in the cafeteria account, set spending limits for the student, make deposits into the student's account, set "Recurring Payments" by amount and date and set "low balance" notifications.
Account information can be viewed online at no charge. Fees for on-line payments are $1 per transaction for checking
payments and $1.99 for credit card payments. Or, parents can continue to make payments directly to the cafeteria
at no charge.
School Nutrition Directtor Kathy Hood explained that payments into multiple children's accounts can also be made with one payment charge.
"School nutrition has offered this service on a limited basis, but we are now ready to offer it to all parents," said Hood.
Letters will be sent to families directing them on how to sign up for the program. To learn more, visit http://lunchbox.

The announcement of the new LunchBox program was made during the Sept. 17 meeting of Candler County Board of Education.
During the meeting, the board also officially set the millage rate at 12.358 mils, unchanged from the 2008 rate.
The board reviewed the balanced scorecard and new goals for the current school year. The scorecard is a gauge the board
uses to determine system-wide advances in specific target areas.
The scorecard outlines fixed actions to be taken by the system in order to achieve the targets specified.
"The new targets are there,"
said Superintendent Tom Bigwood,
"and I think they are reasonable; I think they are do-able."
Bigwood added that the targets have no value "unless the action for the target is activated, monitored and supported.
So, the key to our success is the monitoring that goes on, the support, the coaching that happens, the feedback that is
given."
Of the scorecard itself, Bigwood said, "I feel like it's solid in terms of targets and we have the desire and the enthusiasm
to meet the goal."
